Crop Video
Crop a video to a square, 16:9, 9:16, 4:3 or a custom pixel region. The crop is applied and the video is re-encoded locally in your browser with WebCodecs — nothing is uploaded.
How it works
- Drop a video file. It stays on your device the whole time.
- Pick an aspect-ratio preset for a centered crop, or type an exact X, Y, width and height.
- Press Crop video, then download the result.
Frequently asked questions
What can I crop a video to?
Pick a 1:1, 16:9, 9:16 or 4:3 aspect-ratio preset for a centered crop, or type an exact X, Y, width and height in pixels for a custom region.
Does cropping re-encode the video?
Yes — cropping bakes the new frame into the pixels, so the video is re-encoded at a visually-lossless bitrate. Unlike a straight trim or mute, a crop can't be done as a lossless copy.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. The crop is computed and the video is re-encoded entirely locally in your browser using WebCodecs — the file never leaves your device.
What video formats does it accept?
Drop an MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV file. The output is always an H.264 MP4.
Will cropping reduce the video's quality?
Cropping itself doesn't reduce quality — the crop is applied and the video is re-encoded at a visually-lossless bitrate derived from the source, so the result should look effectively identical to the original at the new frame size.
