Video to MP3 — extract audio online, free, no upload

Pull the audio track out of MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV files and save it as MP3 or WAV. Everything runs locally in your browser with mediabunny and WebCodecs — the video is decoded on your device and never leaves it.

How it works

  1. Drop a video file. It stays on your device the whole time.
  2. Pick MP3 or WAV and press extract audio.
  3. Watch the progress bar, then download the audio file.

Frequently asked questions

Is my video uploaded to a server?

No. The video is demuxed and decoded entirely inside your browser using mediabunny and WebCodecs — it's read in small chunks rather than all at once, and it never leaves your device.

Should I choose MP3 or WAV?

MP3 is compressed and much smaller, the right choice for most uses like sharing a podcast clip or a song. WAV is uncompressed, exact 16-bit PCM audio — pick it if you need the original quality for further editing, at the cost of a much larger file.

What video formats does it accept?

Drop an MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, M4V or AVI file. The tool reads the primary audio track from whichever container and codec your browser can decode.

What happens if my video has no audio track?

You'll get a friendly inline message saying that video has no audio track to extract, instead of a spinner that never finishes. Nothing is uploaded either way.

Is there a file size limit?

No hard limit from the tool itself — the video is streamed in chunks rather than loaded whole. In practice you're bounded by your device's available memory, and very large files simply take longer to process.
