Which formats are supported?
PNG, JPG, WebP and AVIF can be created (encoded) from PNG, JPG, WebP, AVIF and HEIC/HEIF inputs. HEIC and HEIF files are only accepted as input — decode them to one of the other formats to save or share them elsewhere.
Is quality lost when I convert?
It depends on the target format. Converting to PNG is lossless — no quality is lost. Converting to JPG, WebP or AVIF is lossy, so a quality slider appears for those formats — higher values keep more detail at a larger file size.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. This tool converts your image locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded. The file never leaves your device.
What is HEIC and why would I convert it?
HEIC is the photo format iPhones use by default. It's efficient but many apps, websites and older devices don't support it. Drop a .heic or .heif photo here to convert it to a widely supported format like JPG.
Does AVIF/WebP work in every browser?
Not quite — WebP and AVIF encoding support varies by browser. This tool checks your browser's support automatically and disables any format it can't encode, with a note explaining why, so you never get a silently wrong file.
