Enlarge images with AI — free image upscaler

Upscale a photo 2x or 4x with an AI super-resolution model that runs locally in your browser. Sharper results than a plain resize, and your image never leaves your device.

How it works

  1. Drop a JPG, PNG or WebP photo. It stays on your device.
  2. Pick 2x or 4x and click Upscale — the AI model downloads once and runs in-tab.
  3. Compare before/after, then download the enlarged PNG.

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. The AI model downloads once and then runs entirely inside your browser tab using TensorFlow.js — your image is never sent anywhere.

How is this different from just resizing an image bigger?

A plain resize stretches existing pixels and looks soft or blocky. This tool runs an ESRGAN super-resolution model that reconstructs plausible detail as it enlarges, so edges and textures stay sharper at 2x and 4x.

Should I pick 2x or 4x?

2x is faster and works on larger source photos. 4x looks more dramatic but quadruples the pixel count on each axis, so it only accepts smaller source images before the tool warns you it's too big for a browser tab to process safely.

Why does it say the model is downloading?

The first upscale on a visit fetches a small AI model (under 1 MB) plus the TensorFlow.js engine it runs on. Your browser caches both, so later upscales on the same visit start instantly.

Is there a file size limit?

No hard limit on the upload, but very large source images plus a 4x scale would need more memory than a browser tab can safely use — the tool warns you and asks for a smaller image or a lower scale instead of freezing the tab.
