Screen recorder — free, no watermark, private

Press start, pick a screen, window or tab, and save the result as a WebM file. Everything is captured and encoded locally in your browser — the recording never leaves your machine.

How it works

  1. Choose whether to include your microphone, then press start.
  2. Pick a screen, window or tab in your browser's picker — recording begins at once.
  3. Press stop, preview the video and download it. It was never uploaded anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

Is my recording uploaded anywhere?

No. The capture and encoding happen inside your browser with the MediaRecorder API, and the file is saved straight to your disk. Nothing is sent to a server — the recording never leaves your machine.

Is there a watermark or a time limit?

Neither. The video is exactly what your screen showed — no logo, no trial banner, no cut-off. Length is only bounded by your device's free memory and disk space.

What format do I get, and where does it play?

A WebM file (VP9 or VP8 video with Opus audio, whichever your browser supports best). It plays in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and VLC, and uploads fine to YouTube, Slack and Google Drive.

Can I record my microphone or system audio?

Yes. Tick the microphone option before starting to narrate over the recording. For tab or system sound, enable the share-audio checkbox in the browser's own picker — Chrome and Edge offer it when you share a tab or your whole screen.

Why doesn't it work on my iPhone or iPad?

iOS browsers don't support the screen-capture API this tool relies on. On an iPhone or iPad use the built-in recorder in Control Center instead; on a desktop or laptop this page works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.
